Brief & Objectives

RubyWeb was tasked with consolidating the client’s digital presence, which consisted of a main website and two product-specific sites. To reflect this unified business structure, we proposed migrating the two product sites into the primary Boland Rentals website.

Challenges & Strategy

The client was managing three separate WordPress websites, each containing overlapping content and inconsistent branding, which created a fragmented digital presence. Following a business restructure, the consolidation into a single primary entity, Boland Rentals, required the unification of these sites into one streamlined platform. A key challenge was the duplication and fragmentation of content across multiple domains, which diluted SEO value, caused inconsistent messaging, and led to user confusion. Navigation structures were also problematic, with outdated pages, duplicate service listings, and inconsistent naming conventions making it difficult for users to find relevant information.

From a technical perspective, the migration demanded careful handling to preserve existing SEO equity, metadata, and search rankings. Additionally, user experience gaps were evident, as services lacked dedicated user flows and tailored forms, limiting clarity in lead generation and reducing overall usability.

How We helped

The project began with a full audit of all existing websites, carefully mapping content, URLs, metadata, and SEO value across each platform. From this analysis, a consolidation plan was developed to determine which elements should be migrated, merged, or restructured into a unified site architecture. Key sections of the primary website were rebuilt with refreshed layouts and optimised copy to improve clarity and performance, while updated material was integrated based on revised client requirements. The overall offering was expanded with new content areas provided by the client, ensuring the site reflected the full scope of services.

Navigation was redesigned to introduce a simplified, intuitive structure with clear category groupings and improved access to visual content. SEO metadata, including titles, descriptions, alt text, and structural data, was migrated from the legacy sites to maintain search performance, and redirects were implemented to ensure all legacy URLs pointed correctly, preserving rankings and eliminating broken links. User experience was enhanced by adding targeted enquiry points within key service areas to support lead flow and conversions.

To unify the site visually, design elements were standardised across all migrated content, creating consistency in branding and presentation. Cross-site functionality was thoroughly tested, including forms, navigation, links, media features, and mobile responsiveness. Finally, a post-migration UX audit was conducted to review the consolidated site, identify areas for improvement, and ensure the user journey was seamless and frictionless.

Results

The consolidated website now presents all capabilities in one place, giving users a complete view of the business’s services within a single platform. Navigation has been streamlined through a redesigned menu, with clearly organised categories that make it easier for visitors to locate information and improve overall discoverability. Each service offering is supported by its own dedicated content section, providing detailed explanations, options, and clear calls-to-action to guide users toward enquiries. A unified enquiry form is accessible across the site, ensuring prospective clients can reach out at any stage of their journey without confusion.

To support consistency, the site includes a centralised company overview that communicates the organisation’s background, values, and mission, while maintaining uniform design and structure across all pages. Content that was previously spread across multiple domains has been merged under a single domain, improving visibility and allowing users to explore the full range of offerings more easily. From a technical perspective, this consolidation also simplifies ongoing maintenance and management, reducing the workload associated with updates, optimisation, and future expansion while ensuring the platform remains scalable and efficient.
